It’s Too Damn Hot!

What is there to talk about in Tucson in the summer but the weather? The first hot weather is greeted with good humor and the comment “but it’s a dry heat.” By the end of September all agree that “it’s too damn hot!”
This quilt was inspired by a photograph in the Arizona Daily Star by Kelly Presnell. We pixilated the photo and created a full-sized pattern to lay out the 2-inch squares. The saguaro cactus and bushes were added using appliqué. The quilting includes several bats as well as the words hot and caliente.
