Tucson Modern Quilt Guild
May 14, 2026 – Minutes

Meeting called to order at 6:43 pm by Betsy Wycislak, standing in for Ken Harry.
Secretary’s Report: None.

Treasurer’s Report: Joe Mason reported: Savings: $1,199.70 and checking: $3,527.68.

Membership Report: Suzanne Sabin reported that 52 members attended the April meeting.

Quilting for Others: Beth Sellers said she delivered 30 quilts to La Frontera and 29 dog beds.

Program Coordinator: Ann Weber announced two new challenges: (1) a kaleidoscope quilt
made from strip sets; and (2) a cityscape quilt with video instructions at $60/member. She said sign up for both challenges would be available in June with the goal of finishing in November.

Website Committee: Mary Bellin is looking for a volunteer(s) to help with photos on the Guild
website. She also distributed index cards for identifying quilts displayed in Show and Tell.

Stash Coordinator: Jeannie Arbogast distributed focus fabrics and kits for assembly. She alsodisplayed fabric panels for use in making quilts.

Social Media: James Hodges reported that he has removed Guild page Facebook access to
persons who are not paid members of the Guild.
Retreat Committee: Betsy reported that a contract for the 2027 retreat has been signed with Rancho de la Osa and a committee is meeting to plan the retreat.

MQG Community Outreach Challenge for QuiltCon 20267: Betsy reported that the 2027
theme is “triangles” and said members who are interested in leading/coordinating this challenge should contact her.

Constitution/Bylaws: Suzanne Sabin reported on the need to update the TMQG Bylaws, as
per instructions from national MQG representatives. Following templates provided by MQG,
Suzanne drafted an amended Constitution and Bylaws, which she delivered to members via
email in advance of the meeting and which she also printed and displayed on the wall for
members to review. She encouraged members to read the proposed documents for further
discussion and possible approval at the June meeting. A discussion ensued about various
provisions in the proposed text, including members’ preference for language permitting visitors
to attend two meetings prior to becoming members. A motion was made and seconded to
amend the proposed bylaws to change one free meeting to two free meetings. Motion passed.
