For Christmas, Lucas received a much wanted Pirate Lego Set. But, when he saw his younger brother’s Stars and Trucks quilt, he was disappointed in his Lego. He turned to me and asked, “Hey where’s my quilt?” The most logical thing to do was to ask him if he wanted a quilt for his birthday. His face lit up, especially when I said he could have any theme he wanted. He wanted a coral reef. This was my first and maybe last coral reef quilt I may ever make.
It is a combination of piecing, applique by embroidering, embroidering and embellishment with shells, yarn, beads and anything else I found that looked “reef-like”
Quilts are not just for looking at. Sometimes a good game of “Who can find the Sea Horse first” is the best way to use a quilt!
On the other hand, when you need a little quite time, cuddling up under the quilt with a good book is perfect.
